Abstract:
The medical profession has long been held in high regard. with doctors
often seen as near-divine figures. As a result, many patients unquestion-
ingly accept doctors' recommendations. While the doctor-patient relation-
ship is rooted in tnlst. this foundation is gradually weakening. Some pro-
fessionals. including doclors, engage in unethical practices, evading conse-
quences despite violating ethical standards. Although such actions may not
always break the law. they undermine public health and society swell-being. Legal, Ethical and Professional Challenges in Indian Medical Practice and Health Care
Professionals like doctors are entrusted with speciali=ed skills and are held
to high su;mdQlds of responsibility. Society relies on them to act in the public s
best interesl by adhering to the legal and elhical standards of their profes-
sion, However. there are instances when Ihese trusled individuals fail in
their duties through acts of negligence, often causing harm 10 those who
depend on their care and expertise, According to a 2017 study conducted
by Harvard University, approximately 5 million deaths occur annually in
India as a result of medical errors, The study found that medical practitio-
ners ' lack of practical knowledge is a major contributing factor
